AUSTRIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2024
Freestyle Calisthenics
from May 31st to June 2nd in "Südkärnten am Fitness Beach Klopeiner See"
ST. KANZIAN – Fitnessbeach am Klopeiner See.
For the fourth time the sports association Union Street Workout Carinthia & Street Workout Austria, in conjunction with our partners KSL Marketing GmbH Südkärnten/Lavanttal and St.Kanzian Tourismusverband Klopeiner See, have hosted the Austrian Championships in Freestyle Calisthenics. In June 2024 the beautiful Lake Klopein became the event location for this great event.
10th anniversary
With the implementation of the 10th Austrian championship a new milestone for this still young sport was celebrated in Austrian history.
Despite bad weather conditions resulting in a spontaneous rearrangement of the program and start of the event, Austria's biggest Calisthenics event started on June 1st 2024. Even through the continuous light rain our LIVE-DJ "DaBürgermasta" kept the spirits high for all visitors and athletes.
Austria & international guests
Over the duration of two days the event attracted many people.
The visitors had an up close experience with the Austrian Calisthenics scene. The 25 athletes of the freestyle calisthenics championship presented their best moves and skills on Saturday and left many viewers in awe.
Our international guests included professional athletes and famous people from the calisthenics scene. We were joined by double winner of the world championships Daniels Laizans from Latvia as well as the current holder of the german calisthenics title & international champion Thanh Nguyen from Germany. They were accompanied by Austrias reigning national female champion Iris Weissenböck from Vienna and the holder of the male Austrian championship title Thomas Kircher from Carinthia. These masters of the sport ensured a fair and competent judging of our event.
On Saturday, the day of the main event, an impressive performance was delivered in the 1vs1 K.O. battles. The athletes were judged in 5 categories and fought 1vs1 to win the most points for their battles. This captivating scoring system made for an exiting tournament with athletes and visitors looking forward to each new round.
Many new athletes joined the event for their first time and so many of Austria's states were represented this year.
The youngest athletes came in at the age of 16 and the separate female ranking with their strong performance kept the visitors and community exited for the whole event.
Tamerlan M. from Vienna was bale to the defend his title for the third time and fought his way from battle to battle until the final. In the finals he was able to continue his streak of two consecutive wins and earn the title for a third time.
In the female ranking the Tyrolean Clara Moriggl earned the victory and won her first title of female Austrian Champion in freestyle calisthenics.
Carinthia keeps the title!
In the national ranking the title was awarded to an athlete from Carinthia for a second time. Nicolas Dobernig from Treffen bei Villach was able to achieve first place and secure the title. Thanks to Thomas Kircher (winner of last year) the title therefore stayed in the firm grip an athlete from Carinthia.
COMMUNITY DAY – WORKSHOPS & 1. INT.SÜDKÄRNTNER PUSH UP OPEN
On Sunday June 2nd the main focus was the calisthenics community.
Three specialised workshops from the international judges and organiser Marvin Schuppe were held. Helpful cues from our professional judging and event team were well received by the athletes and community in exiting on-hand practice in these courses. Later on many visitors joined the athletes on the performance area for a jam session with great music and many calisthenics skills. Many people were able to get a first feel for this low barrier sport.
At noon the first 1. INT. SÜDKÄRNTNER PUSH UP OPEN started their program. It was the first push-up championship with an AI judge.
People were able to qualify online and at the event. In the end a total of 32 female and male athletes qualified for the finals this Sunday. The goal was to do as many push-ups as possible without breaking form. Only the best of the best were able to last through the full knock out system.
For the female ranking Adriana from Carinthia achieved first place with a total of 65 puh-ups. For the male category Marko from Klagenfurt was able to grab the title with a total of 279 push-ups.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the community showed an incredible sense of unity at the event. Many visitors didn’t let the workshops, hands-on activities, and live performances pass them by. It was also great to see that there were no incidents or accidents to report. Robert Karlhofer (Managing Director of the South Carinthia–Lavanttal Tourism Region) and Mayor Thomas Krainz were also on site and enthusiastic about the event.
The entire team of Street Workout Austria, along with the Union Street Workout Carinthia association, would like to thank all visitors, the amazing helpers, the media team, and everyone involved for their fantastic support on site.
We congratulate all participants—especially our female athletes—for their great performances and successful participation in the Austrian Championship in Southern Carinthia.
